Name: Bartholemieu Eloi Bertrand, nicknamed ‘Barom’ or ‘Baro’.
Age: Thirty one years
Occupation: Bartholemieu currently doubles as the Dean of Students at Medyl University and heir of the Bertrand Mafia, the latter obviously being of more importance. However, he perfoms both jobs to the best of his ability, though occasionally growing dependent on his right hand man and former servant, Kazzyl Bauer.
Affiliation: Head of the Bertrand Mafia, though at the university he pretends to be neutral.
Gender: Male.
Physical appearance: The impression upon seeing Bartholemieu is generally ‘elegant’. He stands at six-foot-four, with a form that is broad in the shoulders but slims at the rest of his body, causing the way he stands to seem refined and practiced. He does have somewhat of a muscle mass, as between the years his father died and he came into power, his father’s assistant Emile trained him severely for the job. He holds himself with a very obvious pride, walking and acting in what one would consider the prestigious manner expected from him.
The sense of uppity ‘elegance’ doesn’t stop at his body language. He is quite an attractive man, with high cheekbones and medium-blonde hair. Bartholemieu’s hair is short and stringy, jetting out backwards and downwards in disarray, somewhat contrary to rest of his appearance. His face is thin and his grey eyes a little narrow, though not enough to reduce his obvious European looks.
Like any other member of the Bertrand mafia, he holds the symbol tattooed on the back of his neck to the right, close to the nape, just low enough to be covered by a collar. His attire almost always seems to be a finely-tailored suit. However, if found in more casual attire, it still seems quite refined.

Personality: To most, Bartholemieu’s attitude is distinguished and curt. He is highly professional in his mannerisms, concealing the majority of his bratty attitude to make a good impression. He follows through with practiced proficiency, frequently sweeping past the ‘asshole’ radar with flying colours. Despite being demanding and a bit bossy, Barom manages to do so with a sweet tone of voice; one might call it alluring, but it is better defined as bittersweet.
His true self is just as he grew up – spoiled, meaning he expects everything to be as he desires. This often causes him to be acrimoniously disappointed in those around him. The only exception to this rule, the hole in his habitual disenchantment, would be the actions of his right-hand assistant Kazzyl. Growing up with the rude ‘get over yourself’ tone Kaz holds with him has left him with different standards for Kaz, though he is no less bossy than with others. In fact, he is likely more bossy. The two get in arguments at a constant, though they don’t seem to be bothered by it as most people would.
In truth, Barom is only pretending to be independent. He has grown up as a very needy individual, afraid of abandonment, relying on Kaz not only for help with his work but also emotionally, seeing him as his closest friend. He conceals this with his ego and attitude of professionalism, but it is most definitely there.
Strengths: He’s quite good at manipulating those around him into doing what he wants. He understands how people work, knowing everybody is selfish to an extent, and attempts to satisfy that need in order to have his own wishes granted in return. He’s good with tactics and plans, and always seems to be coming up with a plan B or C for those under him, not being the most trustful of people.
Weaknesses: His lack of trust leaves him a little stressed. Additionally, when things don’t go his way and his manipulation tactics don’t work well, his bratty side comes out and he is no longer very helpful to those around him.
He’s also stubborn and doesn’t like to answer to others.
Weapons: For safety precautions, he has a small handgun. Otherwise, he considers fighting suitable for cronies whose job is to protect him anyway.
Background: Born on the estate belonging to the Bertrand family, under father Philippe and mother Denise, Bartholemieu was literally one of those children who were ‘born with a golden spoon in their mouth’. He lived on the large estate out in the country; given everything he needed and wanted, sheltered from any type of harshness the world had to offer. Barom did not know much of his father’s business when he was young, and therefore contented himself with the idea that God simply gave them the position they were in. His mother humored that thought despite her previous life, being a slightly medieval thinker herself.
It was about the time he was ten years of age that he began to realize what was going on around him. The shipments, the shady looking men. A man attempting to attack his family was shot outside of the estate, throwing Barom into reality as his father struggled to explain.
At twelve years of age he was given a servant – a young german boy, about three years younger than he, who was wonderfully quiet and obedient. Barom was delighted every time he was able to tell the boy what to do, the boy following through without fail. Having the servant around made him feel less alone and satisfied his bossy nature.
Eventually he grew to know the boy’s name as Kazzyl. Their relationship was strictly young master and servant for two years, Kaz not showing any signs of friendship outside formality and Barom finding no interest in pursuing it.
That is, until Barom’s own interest for a life outside the manor grew too much to bear. At fourteen years of age he disobeyed his father’s orders to stay home while he ‘dealt with a few business partners’ in Illipse city: he followed after him, letting curiosity get the better of him, eleven-year-old Kazzyl dutifully following along. However, in his arrogance and desire to figure out his father’s secrets he was captured by a rival member, bound and gagged.
Kazzyl, quite clever and weathered for a child, managed to rescue him by a feat of bravery, distracting the guard and untying Barom from his restrains.
It was safe to say the young heir was beyond impressed. Whereas before he had seen his servant as incompetent and quiet, he now had a new perspective on Kazzyl. After a lot of persuading, he managed to get Kaz to lose the formalities – learning quickly that the whole time when he’d been quiet, he’d been biting back extreme hatred for his young master. Instead of being hurt, Barom was instead excited, wanting him as a friend even more.
And eventually, the two did manage to grow on one another. Kazzyl stood by his side during his father’s death, tolerating Barom’s neediness and supporting him through Emile’s rule too, continuing to do so when he reached the age where he was now in power. At that point Bartholemieu chose Kaz as his assistant, as well as his right hand man for whatever else task he needed done that his other employees weren’t doing.
He now spends his days covering as the Dean of Students, performing his main job under the noses of the public.
Extra information: Not too surprisingly, Barom is a bit of a one-night stand addict. Women are often seen leaving his quarters in the mornings.
